Heather Ritchie - Certified Content Marketing Strategist and SEO Writer

Hi, I'm Heather and I'm glad you're here.

Are you a content creator who has ever experienced any of these things…

If so, then we’re going to get along quite well, my friend! You’re definitely not alone! As a content marketer, I’ve experienced each of these struggles first-hand.

I’ve felt the frustration and despair of not knowing how to get the most out of my content and how to get the right audience to engage with it.

Starting and growing an online business is hard whether you’re brand new or experienced, as each phase brings new and more advanced things to learn.

And if you’re still working a 9-5, you’re pulling triple duty between your online biz, day job, and family.

Your job essentially never gives you any quality time with your family, much less a better work-life balance. And certainly, no time to devote to writing or growing your business.

But you believe someday you’ll be free from all the painful tasks you have to do. Someday, your mornings will be beautiful, and you’ll simply enjoy your coffee with the kids and the pets without worrying about going to work in a cubicle farm.

And so you read post after post, buy a zillion e-courses on working from home as a writer (that you don’t have time to take). What you need is a shortcut, but you haven’t found one yet. A lot of the stuff you see isn’t geared to freelance writing, just a broader work-from-home approach.

So, you get frustrated and resigned to your life in a dreary cubicle farm.

And if you’re an established content creator, don’t even get me started about the content creation hamster wheel. When I started my blog and freelance writing business, I felt like I was that poor hamster you see who gets too much momentum running on his hamster wheel and gets stuck flying around in circles.

I’ve felt the frustration and despair of not knowing how to get the most out of my content and how to get the right audience to engage with it.

I started my businesses to give me more freedom and a better work-life balance, but I felt like all I did was work.

I was chained to my desk while everyone else was out enjoying life.

As online business owners, we wear many hats, which can all be overwhelming.

Heather Ritchie

Thankfully, this doesn’t have to be the end, and that’s where I come in.

Hi, I’m Heather, and I help reduce the overwhelm of content creation for female content creators so you can spend less time on it but provide maximum impact and make more money with every piece you create.

If you’re tired and just want an easier way to create high-quality content without spending more time on it, you’ve come to the right place. Because what you’ll find on this site is purely derived from my experiences, education, and what’s worked for me.

So, why should you listen to me?

I have about 20 years of writing experience through my education and career as a police officer. I’m also a Certified Content Marketing Strategist, and I’m pretty proud of this accomplishment because it was a class taught by the guys over at Copyblogger. Police officers have to be articulate both verbally and in writing. I have a Master’s Degree in Intelligence Studies and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice.

I’ve been featured in major publications like Convertkit, ThriveGlobal, Authority Magazine, Business Digest, ContentCollab, and many more. I’ve also spoken at many summits and participated in many bundles on topics surrounding content creation like:

  • Blogger Breakthrough Summit

And more.

I’ve been a freelance writer specializing in writing SEO-optimized blog articles for the security industry and other content creators for 6+ years now.

I went from being tired and stressed out from my health problems and trying to go to an office every day to actually being able to spend more time with family and friends because I wasn’t spending every bit of my spare time recouping from my day job.

Pitching and following up for testimonials and thereby annoying my clients is not my style (if you know me). But who doesn’t admire the love notes that come straight from the heart? Here is what a few of my clients had to say.

Heather is an absolute pleasure to work with - she is always prompt and professional in everything she does! I've been using her freelance writing and editing services for several months now. She's a great communicator and very creative. The fact that she has written on a wide range of topics and understands the significance of SEO writing makes my job much easier. Every month, I can count on Heather to complete the work on time and to a high standard. She's the best freelance writer I've ever worked with, and I wholeheartedly recommend her!

In 2011, I had a brilliant career as a police officer and was working on my Master’s degree with the hopes of possibly working towards a job with the federal government. I purchased my first house when I was 22 years old and have always been goal-driven.

My boyfriend was also a police officer; we had been dating for several years. We had great friends and loved to entertain. You can probably tell where this is going, obviously.

That’s My academy graduation back in 2003.

When I became ill, things slowly began spiraling down. It affected my job, my personal life, and soon I couldn’t work. The process of going through disability is very difficult.

And it was during this time that I lost it all.

I had to move out of the house I’d had for 11 years. I was heartbroken. There was no place for me to go, so I had to stay with friends since I had no income. My career was gone, as well as my health and my house……and then my boyfriend of six years came to the house I was staying at to break up with me.

I even lost friends in the process. Some I had known for years, but it’s difficult to understand the actions of someone who has lost everything unless you’ve been there.

After several years I climbed out of that giant hole and started working part-time as an administrative assistant to a police chief I’d known for years. But my illnesses meant I missed work and spent any hours that could have been with family and friends trying to recover from having to go to an office job every day.

Fast forward six years.

Now I have a full life with many friends and a lucrative career as a writer and coach for content creators.

The journey was not easy, though, because I had no experience working from home as a writer. It took me a long time to figure out what I needed to start working from home as a freelance writer.

As you can imagine, there were many moments of despair, pain, and hopelessness. I thought I would never be able to leave my day job.
